All healing is first a healing of the heart.
Carl Townsend

Have you experienced an abortion? Has it affected you and your relationship with others? Know that you are not alone.

Many women and men face a variety of physical, emotional and spiritual effects of abortion. These can appear immediately after the procedure or may not appear until years later. Believe it or not, there is such a thing as Post Abortion Stress Syndrome or PASS. It can affect women in a variety of ways, but leaves every woman with an unforgettable emptiness. Often, the memory is hidden deep within and impacts us in ways we may not be aware of.

Some of the effects can be:

  • Depression
  • Guilt
  • Intense grief
  • Emotional numbness
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Difficulty with relationships
  • Fear
    … and others

Keeping My Secret

For the majority of women, having an abortion is a private experience that is never discussed. Even though abortion is legal, there is still shame associated with having one. A woman is afraid she will be judged, condemned or ridiculed. As a result, many women choose not to confide in others. It becomes their “secret.” However, a secret wound can become infected. Only by opening up and sharing your story will you begin to experience the healing you’re looking for.

A Way Forward

As a way to move past your pain, we offer an eight-week program designed to help you find emotional and spiritual peace in a safe, supportive and judgement-free environment. You can talk about your thoughts and feelings with a trained staff member who will guide you through the grief process as you work through issues of anger, guilt, and fear. You can be confident that your experience will remain completely confidential. In the end, you will be the one to tell your story, but only when you’re ready.
